Welcome back to Medieval Monday! I’m pleased to have Ceci Giltenan with me today, and I’m featuring her romance, A Wee Highland Predicament: Duncurra Legacy Novel.

If you’re following my excerpt from Shadow of the Swan, you can find the ninth snippet of Robert and Constance’s unconventional wedding night on Cecii’s website: www.cecigiltenan.com

Now, let’s check out Ceci’s ninth snippet:

“Well thank ye, Lucas Macrae, for saving me from that lot.”

“’Twas my pleasure. But how did they manage to capture ye anyway?”

She remained silent.

“Ailsa, I asked ye a question? How did ye end up as a prisoner of the Galbraiths?”

“That isn’t important. Ye need to take me back to Edinburgh now.”

“Nay, lass. There were six of them and only one of me. If we run into them again, I couldn’t keep ye safe.”

“But…”

“Nay, no buts. I’ll not argue with ye about it. We’re going north.”

“Fine. Take me to the nearest village. Ye can leave me there and I’ll find someone else to take me back to Edinburgh.”

“Ye’re a bossy wee thing aren’t ye?”

Follow along next week on Sherry Ewing’s website: https://sherryewing.com/blog/. Remember to leave a comment for a chance to win an e-copy of A Wee Highland Predicament or another e-book of your choice by Ceci Giltenan.

A wee bit more about A Wee Highland Predicament:

Sometimes a bad boy can be a good man.

Lucas Grant’s brother is going to be furious. Lucas was supposed to secure a betrothal with a wealthy heiress to save his clan from financial ruin. After meeting her, he cannot marry the detestable woman.

As he flees Edinburgh to escape her, he happens upon six men who are holding a lovely Highland lass captive. He can’t just leave her to whatever fate awaits, so he rescues her.

Well, perhaps rescue isn’t the right word…

When he learns the feisty lass he stumbled upon is Ailsa MacLennan, he sees another way to help his clan. He’s going to hold her for ransom.

But when she steals his heart, what will the ransom be?

One of our talented authors from the Medieval Mondays group, Ruth A. Casie, created a new promo video.  I’m honored that my book, Shadow of the Swan (The Novels of Ravenwood, Book 3) was included.  Take a look:

Here’s a bit more about Shadow of the Swan:

Lady Constance de Bret was determined to be a nun, until shadows from the past eclipsed her present. Marriage is the safest option, but she insists on a spiritual union, in which physical intimacy is forbidden. Not so easy with a bridegroom who wields unparalleled charm! But a long-buried secret could taint his affection and cloak her in shadow forever.

Back from the Crusades, Sir Robert le Donjon craves a home of his own and children to inherit it. From the moment he meets Constance, he feels a mysterious bond between them. When she’s threatened, he vows to protect her and agrees to the spiritual marriage, with the hope of one day persuading her to enjoy a “real” one. She captivates him but opens old wounds and challenges everything he thought he believed.

Two souls in need of healing. Two hearts destined to beat as one.

Welcome back to Medieval Monday! I’m pleased to have Jenni Fletcher with me today, and I’m featuring her romance, Besieged and Betrothed.

If you’re following my excerpt from Shadow of the Swan, you can find the eighth snippet of Robert and Constance’s unconventional wedding night on Jenni’s website: www.jennifletcher.com

Now, let’s check out Jenni’s eighth snippet:

He stiffened, taken aback by his own words. Why had he said that? He never said things like that! It had to be her proximity affecting him, recalling his dreams from the previous night. He was so close that he could smell the delicate honeysuckle scent of her hair, or was it her skin? He was tempted to bend closer to find out…

‘Surrender.’ He cleared his throat huskily. ‘Now, while you still can. No matter whose side you’re on, Matilda’s or Stephen’s, your father would have wanted you to be safe.’

A little more about Besieged and Betrothed:

Ruthless warrior Lothar the Frank has laid siege to Castle Haword, but there’s a fiery redhead in his way—and she’s not backing down!

More tomboy than trembling maiden, Lady Juliana Danville would rather die than lose the castle. When she’s caught on opposite sides of a war, a marriage bargain is brokered to bring peace. But is blissful married life possible when Juliana has a dangerous secret hidden within the castle walls?

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!  Thanks to my Irish heritage and undying love for the Emerald Isle, it’s a special day for my family.  Whether or not you celebrate it, I hope you enjoy the day!

By the way, if you love Ireland as much as I do, there’s still time to enter the Goodreads giveaway to win a signed copy of The Cauldron Stirred, my young adult paranormal fantasy.  It’s set in Killarney, one of my favorite places in the world!  And I’m almost finished writing the sequel, The Stone Awakened.  Here’s the link:

Now, how about an excerpt?  The American protagonist is Ashling Donoghue, and her first night in Ireland, she has a vivid dream:

I soared above a silver lake, on which a lone, white swan glided toward shore. I drifted down and behind the bird until, with a sudden acceleration, we became one. As we merged, a cloak of serenity settled around me. Grace was my guide, and I felt freer than ever before.

On the shore ahead, Aengus materialized. He seemed a beacon of love and truth, of all things good in the world. I longed to be near him and swam faster to cut the distance between us.

A loud snap sounded in the woods behind him. Instantly, he vanished.

A misty black mass slithered around the tree trunks and stopped at the edge of the forest. Framed by two trees, it writhed upward into the shape of a tall, thin woman. Her skin was ghoulishly pale; her lips, colorless. Still, she might’ve been beautiful, if not for the evil that oozed from her core. Both her hair and gown were long and black, and they floated on the air as though animated by wind that touched only her.

The sight of her jolted me out of the swan’s body and back into the air above it. Fear coiled around me as I stared into the woman’s stygian black eyes.

She smirked. Then a single emotion subdued her features: hate.

Sam’l had allowed her to continue searching, to actually capture another, when he knew the real traitor already lurked at Stonehill? Why? Then she realized another import of Jamie’s words.

“When did he say so?” Kate crossed to the table in two strides. “How did you hear?”

“Before they met the soldiers.” Jamie wiped his greasy fingers on the bottom of his tunic. “Sam’l leaned in right close and told him, but I heard. Sam’l can’t whisper for nothing.”

Although his tender confidence tempts her, she’s bound by duty.

Henry vows to solve her problem, provided he catches a traitor before the threat from Kate’s past catches her.

A Quest Through Time Novel, Judith Sterling, Medieval Monday, medieval romance, new release, Only for You, Shadow of the Swan, Sherry Ewing, The Knights of Berwyck, The Novels of Ravenwood

Welcome back to Medieval Monday! Today, I’m featuring Sherry Ewing’s Only for You:  The Knights of Berwyck, A Quest Through Time Novel (Book Two).

If you’re following my excerpt from Shadow of the Swan, you can find the sixth snippet of Robert and Constance’s unconventional wedding night on Sherry’s blog:  https://sherryewing.com/blog/

Now, let’s enjoy her sixth snippet:

Riorden felt Katherine flinch at the sound of another calling his name. He watched her emotions play across her face whilst she gazed upon what she most certainly must consider a rival for his affections. It could not be further from the truth. Then he felt his own feeling of disbelief when Katherine’s grip was ripped away and she became dislodged from his arms. He saw her mouth open in a display of her own sense of shock as she was rudely pulled then pushed away from him when Marguerite reached his side and deftly took her place within his arms.

“Riorden, you have come back to me!” she voiced in a rush, flinging her arms around him. “I always knew you still loved me and would return so we could be together.”

A little more about Only for You:

Sometimes it’s hard to remember that true love conquers all only after the battle is over…

Consumed with the haunting memories of his father, Riorden must deal with his sire’s widow who just happens to also be his ex-lover. Yet how could he know just how far Marguerite is willing to go in order to have the life she feels they were truly meant to live?

Torn apart by circumstances neither Katherine nor Riorden could ever imagine, Time becomes their true enemy even while Marguerite continues her ploy to keep Riorden at her side. With all hope lost, will Katherine and Riorden find a way to save their marriage and have their happily ever after ending, or will Katherine be whisked back to where Time truly feels she belongs?
